Looking for an amazing family day out in Scotland? We’ve just returned from a trip to Blair Drummond Safari Park, and it’s an absolute must for an amazing family day out! Blair Drummond Safari Park is located just outside Stirling in Central Scotland and is set in 160 acres of land. We were staying at a nearby caravan site but honestly, even for a day trip its worth a few hours travel.
Our Safari Adventure: Up Close and Personal with the Animals

One of the coolest things about Blair Drummond Safari and Adventure Park is the drive-through safari. We loved the thrill of driving our own car through the reserves. We saw graceful deer, majestic lions, and even camels roaming free. You can also drive through the monkey enclosure, but be prepared for some cheeky monkeys who might want to say hello!
Once you’ve done the driving part, the on-foot safari is just as brilliant. The park is really well laid out, so nothing feels too far away. We spent a good few hours on two separate days exploring the different areas.

Here were some of our absolute highlights:
- Lively Lemurs: The Ring-tailed lemurs were my personal favourite! They were so energetic, jumping through the air and running around. It was a real treat to walk through their enclosure and watch them up close.
- Majestic Elephants: I’d never seen an elephant in real life before, and it was a truly breathtaking moment. Seeing these magnificent creatures was so special.
- Zebras and Giraffes: We also loved seeing the giraffes and zebras. They are so beautiful and were a joy to watch.
- The Tigers: We got to a viewing platform and saw a male tiger swimming in the water. His paws looked absolutely humongous as he climbed out! The female tiger was also right at the bottom of the enclosure, which was a real treat to see.
- Shows, Rides & Treats: More Than Just Animals!
- Blair Drummond is packed with things to do beyond the animals. We caught two of the fantastic animal shows:

While the kids were a bit too old for some of the smaller rides, we had a blast on the bumper cars and the giant slide, which you can pay for using tokens. We also found some tasty hot chocolate at one of the coffee carts and loved seeing the fire pit where you can roast marshmallows on a stick!
Value for Money: A Bonus You’ll Love
For us, the ticket price was about £55 for an adult and two children, which was fantastic value, especially since we got a discount for staying at the nearby Blair Drummond caravan park which was only 7 minutes drive away. But here’s the best part: once you buy your ticket, you can go back as many times as you want for the next 14 days! This was a huge bonus for us and meant we could go back a couple of days later to see the animals we’d missed and take our time.
Blair Drummond also has free parking and a “pocket money” shop next to the main gift shop. We didn’t get to go in, but it was a great idea to offer small, affordable souvenirs for kids.
Even though it rained a little bit, it didn’t spoil the day. There was plenty to do, and we even found some sheltered spots, like the lemur enclosure, to stay dry. Joseph absolutely loved watching the meerkats and spent ages with them.
All in all, Blair Drummond Safari Park is a brilliant day out for the whole family. It’s five stars from us and we highly, highly recommend it!
